What is a hormone?
Hormones are chemical messengers secreted by the endocrine glands, that travel to target organs and tissues via the bloodstream. Once they reach the target organ they tell that organ to switch on / off different processes such as growth, development, metabolism and reproduction. Glands of the endocrine system include the Pancreas, Pituitary, Adrenals, Thyroid Ovaries and Testes. So as you can see hormone imbalance can have far reaching effects, not only for weight management but also general well-being.
What is metabolic balance?
Basically it is an all-natural weight management programme aimed at resetting your metabolism. Dr Wolf Funfack founded it in collaboration with Sylvia Burke. The approach is based on many years of clinic research and experience in nutrition, obesity and related metabolic disorders. It is unique to you because the plan you will follow is based on your individual biochemistry. Following an initial consultation and a blood test, your results are entered into the metabolic balance programme to generate your very own nutritional and lifestyle plan. Compliance with the plan helps to reset your hormones bringing them all back into balance. It isn’t a quick fix but the results can be amazing in a short space of time. You will have your coach with you for the first three months to help keep you on track and focussed.
The MB programme is structured to run through four phases. This ensures that weight management is adjusted gently and permanently.
Phase 1 – preparation: involves a 2 day cleansing phase. This primes the body for he nutritional changes in phase two.
Phase 2 – Strict phase: Involves a two week programme of strict adherence to your personalised nutritional programme and lifestyle changes to kick start the weight loss.
Phase 3 Relaxation: During this phase further food choices are added and the addition of a treat meal to ensure you are not feeling deprives of your tale away.
Phase 4 Maintenance: Once you have reached your goal and metabolism has stabilised this will be your approach for life. Your hormones will have restored their natural balance and body composition, showing a healthy waist-hip ratio.
There are a number of golden rules you will need to follow to ensure success
- Eat 3 meals a day – no snacking
- Begin each meal with a protein bite
- Leave 5 hours between meals
- Drink 2litres water per day
- Eat an apple a day
